The monumental group formed by the Cathedral, the Royal Alcazars and the Archive of the Indies, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, is the emblem of the city.
The Cathedral is a Gothic temple built over the Almohad Great Mosque of Seville. The old minaret, today the famous Giralda, and the Patio de los Naranjos are preserved from this Arab heritage.
Next to it, the Royal Alcazar also sits on a 9th century Arabic citadel, with Mudejar decoration. Its walls contain numerous outbuildings, sumptuous halls and romantic courtyards.
It is obligatory to take a walk through the Santa Cruz and La Judería districts and discover each of its corners full of history, such as the Casas Palacios from different periods and styles such as the famous Casa de Pilatos, which mixes Italian Renaissance and Spanish Mudejar styles.
